Michel Delforge

Focussing on Multiple Myeloma and AL Amyloidosis

Michel Delforge is a professor of medicine in the Department of Haematology at KU Leuven. He also studied medicine there, obtained his PhD in biomedical sciences there and then continued his medical training as a research fellow at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Subsequently, Delforge undertook a clinical fellowship at KU Leuven, with specific interests in myelodysplastic syndromes and plasma cell diseases.

Professor Delforge is currently chair of the KU Leuven Cancer Institute and clinical head of the Department of Haematology at the University Hospital Leuven, where he directs the plasma cell dyscrasia unit, with a major focus on multiple myeloma and AL amyloidosis. He is also a senior clinical investigator and holds the Fraiture chair in hematology.

Finally, he has authored or co-authored more than one hundred articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and several book chapters in the field of hematology.
