Leander Meuris
Validating and Developing Biomarkers for Chronic Liver Disease Using a Multi-Omics Approach
Leander Meuris got his PhD in Biochemistry at Ghent University. During his PhD in the Nico Callewaert lab, he developed new strains of mammalian cell lines for the production of biopharmaceuticals, specifically focusing on solving the issue of glycosylation heterogeneity.
After his PhD he went on to teach life sciences at the Artesis Plantijn University College in Antwerp and later at Ghent University. Subsequently, he went back to research, developing glycomics analytical technology. And currently, he's coordinating a VIB Grand Challenges project aimed at validating and developing biomarkers for chronic liver disease using a multi-omics approach. All the while, Meuris also obtained a Master’s degree in Statistical Data Analysis.
