Tackling AI Since, Like, Yore

Geertrui Mieke De Ketelaere has been involved with AI for decades – from long before it even dawned on Joe the Plumber that it might have a bit of an impact on all our lives. She tackled it at SAS and imec, where she came to head the AI department. Three years ago, she even wrote an illuminating book about it: Man versus Machine.

In the book, De Ketelaere explains the basic concepts of artificial intelligence in an accessible, transparent way, focusing not only on the opportunities offered by AI but also pointing out the risks. Though she wants there to be no doubt about one thing: AI is already important today, and going forward, it will be crucial.
