A Close Collaboration with Breeders of Different Crops – Including Soybean
Since 2008, Isabel Roldán-Ruiz is Scientific Director of the Plant Sciences unit of ILVO (Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food). She’s also a former professor at the Department of Plant Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at Ghent University and a plant geneticist with a background in molecular breeding, genomics and high-throughput plant phenotyping.
For more than 25 years, Isabel Roldán-Ruiz has collaborated closely with breeders of different crops, including soybean. In her current position, she oversees the research of ILVO Plant, seeking complementarity and excellence through internal and external collaborations and alliances. The breeding program and research activities of her team served as basis for the creation of the VIB-ILVO spin-off company Protealis, a commercial-stage company with two early maturity 000 group soy varieties on market.
