Kristof Verbeeck

Support Manager at ArcelorMittal

Kristof Verbeeck is a versatile professional with a background in environmental technology and biotechnology. He graduated with distinction as a Master of Science in Bioscience Engineering from Ghent University in 2014. Subsequently, he pursued a Ph.D., titled "Electrifying biotechnology for the production of CO2-based chemicals," at the Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology (CMET), where he focused on converting CO2 and renewable methane into valuable products.

During his doctoral studies, Kristof excelled not only in his research but also in mentorship, guiding undergraduate students and leading laboratory practicals. He has presented his research at various national and international symposia.

Kristof currently serves as a Support Manager for Steelanol at ArcelorMittal Belgium, contributing to the development of Europe's first gas fermentation plant. His work embodies his commitment to innovation and sustainability in biotechnology, bridging the gap between academia and industry.
